Bolt Desktop Auto-Updates

How the Bolt desktop app updates itself across dev, beta, and production channels — plus how to switch update channels or roll back to a previous version.

The desktop app auto-updates in the background across three release channels:

Channel	Cadence	Who it’s for
prod	Stable releases only.	Everyone by default.
beta	Release candidates.	Teams that want a heads-up on the next stable.
dev	Nightly-ish.	Early adopters and contributors.

Change channels

Switch channels from the app’s settings pane. On next launch, the app checks the selected channel for a newer build; you can also trigger a check manually.

Under the hood

Updates are downloaded in the background and applied on next launch. If an update fails to apply, the app keeps the previous version and shows an error — there’s no in-between state.
